Buy A New GM And Get Free Insurance For A Year
Talk about an incentive program. After the initial purchase of a car, the insurance premiums are the most expensive part of ownership. GM is tackling that issue by offering free car insurance to new car buyers.
The program is currently in the test phase and is only offered in Oregon and Washington. Those states were picked because GM wants to increase its market share there. The GM auto insurance is offered through MetLife and is provided for Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac products. The GMC insurance is above state minimum requirements and includes replacement coverage if a new car is declared a total loss within the first year or 15,000 miles.
As new car prices continue to skyrocket so do insurance premiums. GM may be on to a great marketing tool, but only time will tell. It will be interesting to see the results of the test run in Oregon and Washington.
