New Durango – Minivan Alternative?
After a short absence from the Dodge line-up, the Durango is back in stylish fashion. It earned an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick award and, maybe more importantly to young couples, Car & Driver recently choose it as the best alternative to a minivan.
Car & Driver wanted to find a comfortable, sporty, yet spacious alternative to the minivan that young parents often dread buying. The magazine lined up the Honda Pilot, Ford Explorer, and the Dodge Durango for an apples to apples comparison. ” Editors were impressed by its willing handling, intuitive technology, exterior styling and interior quality that made the Durango feel like it should be much more expensive than both the Honda Pilot and Ford Explorer,” according to a press release published by Cambridge PR Group.
The new Durango is refined, but it has a Dodge heart and soul, which means powerful engines and transmissions. The standard powerplant is a 290 pony Pentastar V6, but there is an available HEMI V8 that produces 360 horses. Available all-wheel-drive means the Durango is ready for whatever Mother Nature dishes out. That should be plenty of reasons for the minivan allergic out there to think about the new Durango.
