“U.S. News and World Report” has released its 2012 U.S. News Best Cars for the Money Awards to assist prospective car buyers identify which of the new cars, pickup trucks and SUVs best suit their needs. To decide which cars are the best for the money, the news publication mined ownership data from TrueCar.com and compiled it with vehicle purchasing and operational costs. Through this process, the magazine says it came up with a listing of winning vehicles that are not merely good values or good cars; they are both. 

The winners represent a wide-range of vehicles from the compact, to the roomy, from the economical, to the luxurious, from the sporty to the working. The 2012 best vehicles for the money are:
