Mercedes-AMG Unveils its SLS AMG GT at Belgian Grand Prix

Sure, it’s only a safety car, but what a safety car it is. AMG, Mercedes-Benz’s high-performance unit, has created the safety car that will take over the racer controlling duties at this month’s F1 Belgian Grand Prix in Spa-Francorchamps.

The GT safety model is based on the AMG’s SLS supercar, the vehicles that has been a Formula 1 pacer car since 2010. However, the safety model has even more power, boasting 583 horsepower, revised seven-speed dual-clutch automatic shifting, and performance suspension.

The SLS AMG GT is competing for track space with other safety cars such as Audi’s R8 GT.
